About Random.cooking

Hello and welcome to Random.cooking!

My name is Mike. I’m a writer and programmer with a passion for cooking and eating, and I’m the creator and curator of this site.

As much as I love writing and cooking, though, I’m not interested in competing with all the fantastic food bloggers who are already out there doing such great work. So I put together Random.cooking as a fun way to highlight other food writers and to give people some inspiration for their next meal.

You probably already know what this site is all about: Random.cooking’s shuffle feature serves up a set of ingredients from five different categories plus one cooking method. Your job is to figure out what to do with that suggestion. Use the prompt and bring in as many additional ingredients as you need to create one main dish or multiple side dishes. It’s up to you.

You’ll find more than 400,000 possible ingredient combinations at Random.cooking. Some of these will immediately bring to mind plenty of great meal ideas, while others are more challenging and will take some thought. I’m slowly going through as many of these combinations as I can, adding links to recipes that solve the puzzles of individual shuffles. I would love your help with that!

If you have suggestions for how to prepare any of the ingredient combinations you find here—either from your own food blog or someone else’s—I would love to hear about it. I’ve created a form that you can fill out on any shuffle page to send me a quick message. Include a link to a recipe or recipes that solves the puzzle of that page, and I’ll be happy to add them to the site.

And finally, Random.cooking is brand new, at least as I write these words tonight, and very few people know about it. I would really appreciate it if you spread the word, either through links or just telling your blogging, cooking, and food-loving friends.

Thanks, and happy cooking!
